Tiger Hockey Rules and Policies

Automatic suspensions will occur for failure in the classroom, or the use of alcohol, drugs or any kind of tobacco products.

Players who will be late for practices, meetings or games, must notify a member of the coaching staff in advance. Failure to do so will result in a one period penalty in the next game. The second offense will result in a suspension of one game.

Other policies, expectations:

MHA coaches have an open door policy for parents and players alike. We will discuss any issue, as long as it is done respectfully. However, players are strongly encouraged to discuss issues and problems with the coaching staff themselves. We feel that is and will be a good learning experience for them.

Disrespect to officials will not be tolerated. The minimum penalty for such conduct will be a one-game suspension. Additional penalties, if necessary, will be determined by the coaching staff and the MHA board of directors.

Unsportsmanlike behavior before, during or after a game will not be tolerated. Examples: An obvious attempt to injure an opponent, or engaging in altercations with opposing players or fans on or off the ice. Such conduct will result in a minimum one game suspension. Additional penalties, if necessary, will be determined by the coaching staff and the MHA board.

The coaches are committed to making practices fun, challenging and fast moving. For instance, the last 15 to 20 minutes of most practices will be reserved for “Toilet Bowl” scrimmages. But lack of focus and lack of hard work during practice could result in a player being sent to the locker room early.

Earrings and other piercings are not allowed while representing Tiger hockey, and are forbidden by USA Hockey during games.

Players must come to the rink for ATT games in MHA warm-ups. Hats may not be worn to the rink for high school league games, but are allowed for practices and travel games, as long as they are presentable. No hats will be allowed during team travel, such as the trip to Minnesota.

Pre and post-game locker room music must not contain any vulgar or racist language. Violation of this rule will result in loss of the privilege of having music in the locker room.

Tiger Priorities

1. Family 2. School 3. Hockey. The coaching staff is understanding and supportive of our players participating in other extracurricular activities, such as golf. But conflicts must be kept to a minimum, and hockey must remain the priority.

The Mansfield Tiger Hockey Team will:

Be the most disciplined team in Texas.

Be the hardest working team in Texas.

Enjoy the hockey experience more than any team in Texas

Mansfield Hockey Commandments

Thou shall be disciplined at all times

Thou shall work hard at all times.

Thou shall have fun every time you are at the rink.

Thou shall treat everyone on the team as he wishes to be treated.

Thou shall excel in the classroom and treat all teachers and administrators with respect. Also, thou shall notify the coaching staff of any academic struggles as they become know, and immediately obtain the help necessary to overcome them.

Thou shall keep the locker room clean. If you wouldn’t spit on the floor of your kitchen, don’t do it in the locker room.

Thou shall be on time for all team functions

Thou shall not be satisfied with anything less than a city championship and trip to state.
